Consent beyond touch
Something truly excellent I’ve seen lately is the number of photographers promoting consent. No doubt it’s important for our clients to feel that we have consent in mind when photographing them, but let’s take it one step beyond asking “may I touch you?”.
You Are Photogenic
Most clients experience the fear of “not being photogenic” and use that as a determining factor in not booking a session even if they want the experience. So let me put your mind at ease, fill you in on a little secret, and give you a permission to believe it: You ARE photogenic.
WHAT IS Trauma-Informed Photography?
Being photographed is a vulnerable experience, no matter the person’s background, and because trauma manifests differently for each individual, it can be difficult to spot. My job is to be as prepared as possible by tuning into the principles of Trauma-Informed Care and applying it to my work.
